The BMHS National Honor Society now has an official blog!

In our efforts to expand this chapter of NHS and make this organization known within our school, our district, and our city, we are trying to make our presence known on the internet. This blog will be a place for members to check their status on attendance and service/volunteer hours, discuss improvements and goals for the program, reflect on service projects and volunteer opportunities, and post pictures and stories about our experiences. In addition, members of the community, and teachers and students within the district will be able to see updates and news about NHS.

These are some of our goals for NHS:

  • Make our presence known in our school and community. Many students, even in our high school, do not know what NHS is or what our organization does. We want to change this, and motivate students to take their education seriously so that they can be honored and recognized for their hard work.
  • Take on more service and volunteer hours. Current and future NHS members have expressed wishes to become more involved within our school and community via service projects and volunteer opportunities. We want to equally balance help within our school and district, and charitable work within our community. Our goal is to get students excited about volunteering, and help them establish personal connections with the work that they do.
  • Increase the level of communication and organization. Using email, Google Drive, Facebook, Twitter, and now Blogger, NHS is taking communication to a whole new level. We want our information, schedules and news to be as available as possible, using mediums that will reach a wide range of people.
  • Have more fun! NHS isn't all about hard work... being chosen as a member of NHS is a great honor, and we believe that high achieving kids should be recognized for what they do well. Incentives that we put in place are also meant to motivate kids who may struggle in school to get their grades up to become a part of this awesome organization. We are striving to create a sense of community and culture within NHS, which is fueled by passionate and fun-loving kids.
Please share this blog with your friends and family. We are excited to share our journey with you!
